HYDROSOL :
WHAT IT IS AND HOW TO USE IT ON PETS
The word “hydrosol” is originated from the Latin language. The chemistry term, “water solution”, is derived from the Latin word hydro meaning “water” and the word sol meaning solution.
A hydrosol is an aromatic water that remains after hydro-distilling or steam-distilling botanical material, such as specific plants and essential oils. Hydrosols, as well as pure essential oils, are used for aromatherapeutic purposes. Hydrosols can also be used for medicinal purposes and are considered the homeopathic version of aromatherapy. When these plants or essential oils are steam-distilled they are safe to use with children, animals, and people with a poor immune system. Hydrosols are used in cosmetics, holistic treatment and in food as a digestive aid. It is also known as treatments to better suit anyone who is prone to sensitivity.
Essential oils are not recommended to be used on your skin if it is undiluted. Hydrosols are much gentler on the skin without further dilution.
Ticks and Bugs Repellant
Ingredients
Essential Oils
· 50 drops Geranium (Bourbon) Pelargonium roseum X asperum
· 20 drops Geranium (Egyptian) Pelargonium roseum X asperum
· 50 drops Lemon Eucalyptus Eucalyptus citriodora, Corymbia citriodora OR Citronella Cymbopogon nardus, Cymbopoon winterianus
· 20 drops Patchouli Pogostemon cablin, Pogostemon patchouly
Hydrosols (optional)
· 85ml Lemongrass
· 85ml Lavender
· 85ml Peppermint
· 85ml Witch Hazel
Instructions
1. In 350ml spray bottle add the essential oils.
2. Top off with water or the hydrosols.
3. Shake well before using. Apply as often as needed.
First Aid Antiseptic wound spray
Ingredients:
· 400ml aloe vera
· 55ml witch hazel infused with calendula flowers, sage leaves, thyme leaves and flowers, yarrow and/or goldenseal root
· 55ml lavender hydrosol
· 1 tsp castile soap, liquid
· 5 drops grapefruit seed extract, optional
· 20 drops lavender essential oils
· 15 drops tea tree oil
· 5 drops thyme essential oil
· 5 drops myrrh essential oils
Instructions
1. In 350ml spray bottle add the essential oils.
2. Top off with water or the hydrosols.
3. Shake well before using. Apply as often as needed.
